No family holiday to Luxor would be complete without visiting at least a couple of the following attractions:
- A visit to the Mummification museum where they can learn all about the process the ancient Egyptians used to preserve their Pharaohs. Just make sure they don’t practice on you when they get home.
- Luxor is not a big town and is mainly flat so if they are old enough let them hire a bike to explore for themselves. It’s a safe place and they are cheap to hire (don’t forget to bargain)
- Possibly one of the most scenic McDonalds in the world overlooks the main temple of Luxor. Kids always like hanging out especially after exposure to a little culture. It gives you a break too!
- A real fun experience is to hire a horse or camel. This can be arranged on the West Bank. They come with guide and handler so there is little danger of them taking off into the Sahara with one of your loved ones. Try it yourself as well.
- Many hotels organise an evening entertainment, which includes a Nile water tour at sunset followed by a visit to a Bedouin encampment. Over a buffet meal the kids and the odd snake are charmed by the Snake Charmer, enthralled by the magic of a Magician and if the older ones are lucky get to see some genuine Belly Dancing.
- Taking advantage of your hotels many facilities. Make sure there is always a nice large pool to come home to!
And what are the top attractions for you? Temples on the Nile, palm fringed swimming pools, air conditioned hotels with friendly service, Arab bazaars, the Nile at sunset, lots to occupy the kids and some amazing memories to take back
