- Take a look under the crystal clear waters to see the variety of sea life up close and personal. There are so many ways to do this from snorkelling, scuba diving or taking a cruise on a glass-bottomed boat.
- Take a picnic up to Mount Attavyros, passing many fruit orchards, olive groves and vineyards on the way. Between Embona, and Siana find a shady spot to park, have a walk and enjoy your picnic while looking at the lovely views. If your family is really fit you could try for the summit but it is a pretty steep climb.
- A popular visit is to the Valley of the Butterflies in the Petaloudes Valley. There is a pathway alongside a narrow stream with welcoming shade given by the overhanging trees. The kids will enjoy the little narrow bridges over the ravines and of course the myriad of butterflies if the season and weather is right. Check before you go but it is a nice walk, even without butterflies.
- Rhodes, the city and Lindos have picturesque, pedestrian only, medieval quarters with many buildings dating back to the time of the Crusading Knights of St John. Rhodes also has a quite impressive Aquarium on the waterfront with displays of large sea turtles and crabs that will especially appeal to the kids.
- A high spot on any seaside holiday is a cruise around the Bay and here there are many different cruises around some of Rhodes many beautiful bays. Choose a cruise that stops along the way, so you and the children have a chance to cool off and even do a spot of snorkelling in the water. Or take a scenic cruise from your closest town, Rhodes or Lindos, down or up the Eastern Coast. It takes a couple of hours.
