Rainbow Nation Family Holiday overview

Get up close to Africa’s birds of prey in the beautiful region of Mpumalanga, where you can also try your hand at panning for gold. Then on to Kruger National Park for a safari, followed by some ... stunning mountain walks in Swaziland and a beach stay at Umhlanga Rocks. Day 1 – Depart London for an overnight flight to Johannesburg. Day 2 – Your arrival in Joburg has something for everyone all fused with a unique urban African essence. You will visit Soweto accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, who will not only give a real sense of its history but help you understand its ongoing evolution. Day 3 – Today you will visit Mpumalanga, the place to see birds of prey and panning for gold in Dullstroom's village. This environment offers the ideal opportunity for families to bond in beautiful natural surroundings - be it at trout waters, on horseback, bird watching or engaging in the vast variety of nature related activities. In the afternoon you’ll make your way to Pilgrim’s Rest which is situated on the magnificent Panorama Route. The area has a rich diversity of natural, cultural and historic gems. Day 4-5 - Kruger National Park where you’ll find a diversity of life fusing with historical and archaeological sights – this is real Africa. Mid-afternoon you take a game drive and you’ll return to the camp before dusk and enjoy a ‘braai’ (barbecue) in the bush. Day 6 – There is a huge variety of things to do within the small Kingdom of Swaziland. You will have great fun exploring the beauty and rich heritage of Swaziland and its warm people. Day 7-8 – You’ll spend the next couple of days at St Lucia and experiencing game drives Hluhluwe at National Park. The most prominent future of St. Lucia is its laid-back atmosphere and integration with wild life as Hippo’s, Bush Buck, Red duiker and Monkeys roam the streets freely. Hundreds of bird species can be observed throughout the town. Day 9-11 – Umhlanga Rocks beach is a sea-side resort town. Humid, tropical weather and thick green vegetation typify this area of South Africa, try a boat trip to see dolphins, a visit to the Natal Sharks Board, a visit to Durban or just enjoy the beach and perhaps take a surfing lesson. Day 12 – Fly to London. Day 13 – Arrive London. Day 14-16 – Optional Cape Town Extension. Day 1-11 – As per itinerary above. Day 12 – Fly to Cape Town where upon arrival you can enjoy looking around this stunningly located city. Day 13-14 - Free Day, take a scenic wine tour around Paarl and Stellenbosch, have a sun downer on Table Mountain after you have climbed it, visit Cape Point, see the penguin colony at Boulders Beach, visit the harbour at Hout Bay or enjoy the famous beaches. Visit Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was a prisoner or the V&A Waterfront with its myriad of shops and entertainments. Day 15 – Trip ends you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight to London. Day 16 – Arrive London.
