the mountains. The trip also includes biking in the sacred valley and a visit to local markets. Day 1 – Depart London to fly to Lima, Peru. Day 2 – On route to the town of Puno an interesting place to visit as it is the capital of folklore in Peru, you will fly to Juliaca followed by a drive around Lake Titicaca, then on to visit some mysterious burial tombs. Day 3 - You’ll take a boat trip today on Lake Titicaca a sacred place for the Inca civilization and one of the most fascinating lakes in the world and situated at a very high altitude. You’ll also get to see the floating reed islands of the Uros Indians, in the afternoon you can explore more of Puno. Day 4 - An early start in order to take a full day train journey across the Andes to Cusco, taking in all the sights and sounds of this Peruvian region. Day 5 – You will explore Cusco today, the archaeological capital of America because there is no other place in the whole continent where you easily can see ruins of this amazing culture, which are still in a good condition. A highlight is a morning visit to Sacsayhuaman at an immense fortress. Day 6 – Explore the beautiful Sacred Valley where you will visit the village of Pisac to see one of the most important markets of the region. Day 7 – You’ll make your way to Chinchero a small Andean Indian village located high up on the windswept plains of Anta. There are beautiful views overlooking the Sacred Valley of the Incas, this is the perfect place to start preparing yourself for the Inca trail. Tonight you’ll be staying in a typical Inca house. Day 8 – A day mountain biking through the high Andes is spectacular, passing amazing mountain scenery, salt pans and stunning valleys until you reach the magnificent fortress of Ollantay. Day 9 – In the morning you will visit the ruins of Ollantay before staring you Inca trek. Porters will be carrying your luggage so you can really experience the ascent. Tonight you will be camping under the Andean skies. Day 10 – You continue your ascent today following the course of the Cusichaca River to Wayllabamba and then finally arriving at Llulluchupampa where you will prepare to camp. Day 11 – A difficult day’s trek but well worth it, you cross the highest point at Warmiwanusca before descending to the Pacamayo River. As you continue you will cross the Aobamba River passing the Sayacmarca ruins and camping close to the Phuyupatamarca ruins. Day 12 – You’ll awaken with your whole body drinking in the spectacular views of the early morning. You are hours away from seeing the spectacular Machu Picchu. Day 13 - A trip to Peru would not be complete without a visit to the spectacular ‘lost city’ Machu Picchu one of the most beautiful and enigmatic ancient sites in the world. In the afternoon you will return to Cusco by train. Day 14 – Before you fly home in the evening you will have the opportunity to investigate Lima “City of the Kings”, which is rich in history, has beautiful beaches and great museums and the cuisine is just delicious. Day 15 – Arrive London. Day 16-18 – Optional Amazon Extension. Day 1-13 As per main itinerary. Day 14 – Transfer to your lodge in the Amazon. Once settled you will be taken on a sunset canoe trip searching for the bright eyes of the cayman. Day 15-16 – Over the coming days you will be accompanied by naturalist guides into the Amazon rainforest, an unforgettable experience which you will relive again and again – the diversity of life is breathtaking. Day 17 – Transfer to Lima, the remainder of the day will be spent at your leisure. Day 18 – Return flight home. Day 19 – Arrive London.
