New Hall Hotel and Spa overview
This grandly moated great pile makes an excellent luxury hotel. New Hall Hotel and Spa is a little run down and that stops it from being up with the very top hotels but that also means it's less ...
expensive and much less stuffy. It is highly child friendly and welcomes families. The moat is a big hit with small people, as is the crazy confection of a building with turrets, cupolas, gilt ballroom and wobbly 800-year-old stone flags. Then there's the pond, the swimming pool, the tennis court, and the wonderful array of climbable trees in the 25 acres of grounds. The food is good, though not astounding, and there is a fairly full children's menu. High tea is served and cots, high chairs and changing facilities abound.

There is something about staying in a place with a moat that makes children very happy. But the New Hall tried very hard to make our children happy anyway - from special orders for food, to z-beds in Mummy and Daddy's room. The smalls loved the vast four poster beds, the window seats, the pool with wide shallow steps for getting in and particularly loved the big beech tree for climbing up. There were good walks around the grounds and a yew tree walk that was spooky and exciting. We had a lovely stay here and were made to feel most welcome.
