Big Eats, Comfy Dining, Amazing Food

The Plough in Galgate, 4 miles from Lancaster city centre and around 1 minute from J33 of the M6, is a small country pub serving home cooked food for those with big appetites. The menu, though not too extensive, has excellent food which is cooked to order. The staff there are very willing to help and will gladly change and substitute things on the menu to taste. The portions are on the large side, the fish that comes with the fish and chips hangs off the plate, the godfather burger stands as tall as a pint glass and the roast dinners come with gravy you could drown in. There is also a snack menu for those who do not have a big appetite. Prices range from around £9 - £15 per main course, with specials available too. For children there is a simple menu which should suit all tastes. However, if your little one, like mine, had his heart set on something else - the staff made a special meal just for him off the specials board and made sure that he was happy. Children's meals start around £4.95. The interior is small and cosy, only room for around 40 seats so booking at peak times can be required. There is a beautiful beer garden out the back with additional seating. Although there is no play equipment, my son and the other children there were very happy just playing in the gardens. The Plough currently runs a series of offers through loyalty cards, a scratch card reward system and special offers on their facebook group and website. Please check with them for more information. I would highly recommend The Plough for dining with a family. I always recommend The Plough to friends and family who visit and noone has been disapointed, I am sure that you will not be either,
