Sloppy Joe's American Diner overview
Juicy burgers and massive steaks are all on the menu at Sloppy Joe’s, a TexMex/American underground diner in Colchester High Street. The entrance to this restaurant is via a very steep set of steps ...
so pushchairs are a bit difficult, but there are plenty of staff on hand to help if necessary. Sloppy Joe’s is a very friendly place with a great variety of food on offer at very reasonable prices. There is a good children’s menu available under £5 and most meals can also be shared. Children will love the novelty factor of this American themed restaurant and young children are provided with drawing activities and crayon. The diner has lots of American memorabilia to look at, along with the New York skyline lit up around the deliberately dimmed restaurant. Sloppy Joe’s often has special meal offers available, particularly at lunchtimes, to make eating even more affordable. This is a great place for parties but can get very noisy especially at weekends with party poppers, sparklers and cheering, but children will love it!

Hidden under Colchester High Street is this wonderful diner which has been the scene of many a family meal and party over the years. My children always love the atmosphere in this underground cavern filled with bright lights and 2d models of New York’s skyline. We enjoy sitting in a booth and ordering fresh steaks or Fajitas whilst drinking ice cream floats. The portions in this restaurant are huge but there is an excellent child’s menu for under a fiver. They are also quite happy for an order of one standard meal and two plates should your children prefer to order off the main menu. Sloppy Joe’s is a fabulous family restaurant with a huge variety of food and lots of friendly service.
