Giraffe overview

Family friendly, child friendly and adult friendly - Giraffe restaurants appeal to everyone and the one on South Bank is no exception! It’s very convenient for the London Eye and Royal Festival ... Hall and has super river views. It’s a popular place and there is usually a queue, but they are very efficient and it doesn’t take long to get a table. Staff are very friendly and patient with the kids, high chairs are available and menus to colour will keep the children busy. The Kids Menu offers a full English breakfast brunch with a vegetarian option, mini main courses of burgers, chicken breast, fish and chips or pasta. Delicious desserts include ice cream, sorbet or chocolate fudge brownie and your thirsty little ones can enjoy healthy juice, fresh fruit smoothies, cola, and lemonade or semi skimmed milk. FACILITIES – Outside seating, free wifi and no steps for easy access with push chairs and wheelchairs.

Giraffe South Bank!

We popped in to this Giraffe one late afternoon and were really impressed with the fresh juices and snack options available. The kids were very happy colouring with crayons the staff brought over and loved the coloured giraffe swizzle sticks that came in their drinks. I thought the food was a great combination of healthy and fun – we had a foccacia pizza, cheesy potato wedges and tortilla chips with dips. We put all the plates in the middle and shared the lot. When we left the kids were given a balloon – and the liked the music! Brilliant option!

We think that Giraffe is the best restaurant for kids on the South Bank. There is loads to do on the South Bank for kids, but a lot of the restaurants are not child-friendly. When we arrived at Giraffe the kids were immediately given an orange balloon, colouring crayons and a kids menu with games and pictures to colour in. Members of staff are really friendly, helpful and laid back and food was served reasonably quickly considering how busy it was at the weekend. There are some great food choices for kids, either from the food menu, or from the sides or starter menu – as we normally do – we recommend the Mezze plate!

Family Friendly Eating

We visited Giraffe on a Sunday lunchtime. Initially when we passed we tried to book but were told we couldn't. However when we returned at 1pm we were able to get a seat with no wait for a party of 8. The food choice was great, good variety, reasonable prices. I thought drinks were on the pricey side, particularly for children, but they do lovely smoothies which the children adored. Food service was prompt and well presented, great sized portions for all. Facilities were clean and fresh and the staff were friendly and helpful without becoming annoying! The children were given paper and pens and balloons to bring home and it was good to eat somewhere where you felt they were truly welcome and not a nuisance.

Giraffe South Bank

Like all the good family restaurant chains, Giraffe serves up consistently great tucker. This South Bank branch is no exception; on the day we visited, despite being jammed packed, we also got great service and didn't have to queue too long for a table. The kids love it, especially the hot choc with marshmallows. It remains good value for money too - the bill for 4 of us with wine came to just under £12 head.
