Modern China Restaurant and Bar, Birmingham

This buffet style restaurant set in Stockland Green was originally The Stockland Inn that dates back to the 1920s. The current owners converted it to Modern China Restaurant in 2005 and they have managed to maintain much of the old building’s external characteristics. Inside, it is contemporary in its design, scrupulously clean and is decorated throughout with Chinese pictures, ornaments, and screens. There is also a lovely water feature which will entertain young children should they get a little fidgety towards the end of the meal! We have been coming to this buffet style restaurant since our children (now ages 2 and 5 years) were babies and they love it! This is for the large part owing to the fact that they are able to select what they want from the buffet. This, as I am sure you can imagine, they find a lot of fun particularly when they discover the desserts part of the buffet! This section is undoubtedly the most popular with young children and they will love to pick and choose from all the scrumptious puddings on offer such as jellies and ice cream, mini cheese cakes, doughnuts and chocolate muffins to name just a few! The restaurant’s staffs are definitely family friendly and you are guaranteed a warm and courteous welcome throughout your stay here. The food tastes great and caters for both meat eaters and vegetarians alike. There is a good choice of dishes with which to tempt you and it is very good value. Lets face it there aren’t many places these days where you are able to get a three course dinner for as little as £7.00 and for eating as much as you like! One point worth noting is that the lunch menu served from Monday to Saturday tends to have a more restricted choice than that of Sunday lunchtimes and the evening menus. However you don’t need to worry as the there is still plenty of choice and the difference in the menus are reflected in the prices as follows: Monday to Saturday: lunchtime menu 12-2.30p.m £7 (adults) and £4 (children under 8 years) Monday to Saturday: evening menu 6-11.30p.m £13 (adults) and £7 (children under 8 years) Sunday lunchtime menu: 12-4.30p.m £9 (adults) and £5 (children under 8 years) Children in high chairs eat for free The restaurant is fully wheelchair and pushchair accessible and has a baby change and toilet facilities for the disabled. Highchairs are available but it is best to reserve one just to be on the safe side at your time of booking. The staffs genuinely do seem to enjoy having families frequenting their establishment and this is reflected in their general actions and demeanour. Indeed, nothing is too much trouble for them whether it is assisting you with the high chair mechanisms, taking family photos at those special occasions or bringing out a birthday cake and singing happy birthday in to the bargain! So if you like Chinese food, eating as much as you like for a set price, or simply want to experience something new in a relaxed family friendly environment why not give it a go.
