4) Rooms with inter-joining doors are ideal for families with older children as parents are allowed some privacy. These must be requested when you book.
5) For safety reasons, avoid high floors if the room you have booked has a balcony or terrace.
6) Ask if your room has a mini-bar or fridge – these are ideal for storing milk, juice, water or even medicines.
7) Ensure the hotel has a cot if you are traveling with a baby. Most do but it’s always worth checking and must be requested in advance.
8) Many hotels offer baby-listening facilities or even baby-sitting services at additional cost. Ask about these out before you hand over any cash.
9) Lots of resort based and all-inclusive hotels offer kids clubs, supervised crèches, beach and water activities, an on-call doctor and nannies for hire. Make sure you do your research before you go though, as the additional cost of using these does mount up!
10) Check the hours room service is available as you may need a baby’s bottle warmed in the middle of the night. Alternatively, ask if the room has a kettle.
